Indian Shia Cleric Comes up With a Peaceful Way Out

Noted Shia cleric and vice-president of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) Maulana Kalbe Sadiq said he has an "option" for the amicable settlement of the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri mosque dispute.

"I will put the option before the AIMPLB after the judicial verdict on September 24 and the situation cools down," said Maulana Sadiq, addressing a seminar on Wednesday. "I am hopeful the Board would accept the option."

Otherwise, he has another option, for which he would take an initiative himself, the Maulana said. "My sincere efforts are to ensure that the lingering issue is resolved by year-end so both Hindus and Muslims can heave a sigh of relief."

The Maulana, however, refused to reveal the contents of the option and said he would place it only before the AIMPLB.

Asked whether his idea has not come rather late in the day, he said: "I can’t help it. I keep thinking on important issues and the Ayodhya issue is one of them. The idea for the resolution of the Ayodhya dispute occurred to me today."

Lailatul Jaiza

The Night Preceding 'Eid-ul-Fitr' It had been the practice of the Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, that he would pray during the night preceding the day of Eid-ul-fitr. This night has been named in a Hadith as the Night of Reward (Lailatul Jaiza). Almighty bestows his rewards on those who have spent the month of Ramadan abiding by the dictates of Shari'ah, and all their prayers in this night are accepted. Therefore, it is desirable to perform nafl prayers during this night. A woman was at work when she received a phone call that her daughter was very sick with a fever. She left her work and stopped by the pharmacy to get some medication for her daughter.
